Demet Evgar

Demet Evgar (born 19 May 1980 in Manisa, Turkey) is a Turkish actress with an increasing fame in Turkey through roles in feature films and TV series but who also still pursues an active career as an actress in theatre where she had made her débuts. Her brother Yiğit Evgar is also an actor.
==Biography and career==
Demet Evgar was born in Manisa in 1980 and her beginnings in acting date back to an amateur theatre group based in that city. She then graduated from the theatre department of the State Conservatory of Istanbul University. While still studying, she appeared in roles in plays staged by a group founded by her together with a circle of friends and classmates. Also on one occasion, in a stage adaptation of David Hare's The Blue Room, she had a role in Turkey's private theatre group of national fame, Kenter Theatre.
During the period between 2000–2005 following her graduation, she played in well remarked roles in three TV series, "Kerem ile Aslı", "Bütün Çocuklarım" and "Emret Komutanım" and also in three feature films, "Banyo", "Shattered Soul" and "Güneşi Gördüm" (I Saw the Sun), which brought her to national attention in Turkey.
Up to present, her notable roles in plays include those in Anna Karenina, 39 Steps, Rebecca Lenkiewicz's "The Night Season" and Curzio Malaparte's "The Women Lost the War Too". A stage role in a rock musical followed. During the last two seasons to date (2009–2010), she has been playing in Molière's L'Avare.
Her most recent role in cinema was that of a Calamity Jane-like character in Cem Yılmaz's 2009 big-budget comedy on the American Old West, "Yahşi Batı".〔The film's title is a play of words on the expression in Turkish language for the "Wild West"; "Vahşi Batı".〕
On television, she is currently appearing in the series "1 Kadın, 1 Erkek", a Turkish adaptation of Un gars, une fille.
She has a reputation as a favorite of the film director Mustafa Altıoklar, having appeared in two feature films and a TV serial by him in early-2000s.
